SEVENTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME THEME NMP-2007-3.5-2
“Production technologies and equipment for micro-manufacturing”
New production technologies of complex 3D micro – devices through
multi-process integration of ultra precision engineering techniques
Integ-Micro
Grant agreement no.: CP-IP 214013-2

Objectives:
To develop new high precision manufacturing technologies
for cost efficiently and eco-friendly responding to the
mass customization paradigm within the production of complex shape
micro parts, embedded systems and miniaturized products at micro/meso-scale
level (from 10 to 10.000 micron range).
Strategy and Technology:
Multitasking micromachining is the ability
to perform multiple machining operations in one workholding configuration.
Integ-Micro objectives will be pursued by developing hybrid, reconfigurable,
multitasking machines and combined processes, by integrating
different ultra high precision techniques for the generation of 3D
complex shape micro-components having a complex shape and made
from different kinds of materials. Moreover, the availability
of several machining technologies on a single machine allows important
synergies between the different machining methods.
Expected Impact:
The Integ-Micro technology will lead to greater
accuracy, reduced handling and plant area, faster throughput and increased
productivity.
Consequently, the results of the Integ-Micro will contribute to innovate
European industry, to render the European industry more adapt
to the current/future economic challenges and to the increased
competitiveness.
The target application addresses a variety of key EU markets currently
demanding the development of the micro/meso scale production techniques,
i.e. medical and bio-medical, automotive, environmental monitoring, aeronautic
and aerospace industries.
